2013 has got off to a great start and we are excited about the year ahead and achieving our goals.
This year we are focusing on achieving our NGO status in Tanzania and raising enough funds to build a class for the children. Volunteer Maasai will be holding a number of fundraising events throughout the year, so please keep checking our website for more information!
We are also hoping to attract volunteers throughout the year that can help assist us with the schools programme and development.
A big thank you to everyone who bought a calendar in aid of Idimayii school, all calendars were sold and we raised enough money to pay for both teachers salaries throughout the year!
Volunteer Maasai is excited about developing a partnership with Cosby's primary school in Stradbally, Co.Laois, Ireland. We will be looking at ways in which children across the globe can learn from each other. A big thank you to school teacher Jackie Cooper and Reverend Olive in coordinating a church collection in Stradbally for the children and school at Xmas. Ashe Naleng'.
Volunteer Maasai had two volunteers from Ireland this month, they combined their holiday with volunteering at the school. Through Volunteer Maasai, Lalahe Mollel (Director & Volunteer Coordinator) did a 4 day Safari and Kilimanjaro climb with the volunteers. They all made it to the top and had a wonderful experience! Profit made from the trips enabled us to buy school books for the class.
Why not volunteer this year and combine your holiday with a Safari trip or Kilimanjaro climb with Volunteer Maasai. We do not charge for the volunteering experience only daily living expenses covered by the programme. All profits made go back into the development of the school. Karibu Sana!
